Business cards, flyers, brochures, books, catalogs, memorandums …

What is digital printing?

Digital printing refers to printing methods from a digital image directly to different media. It usually refers to professional printing where small works from desktop publishing and other digital sources are printed using large format and / or large-format laser or inkjet printers.

Digital printing has a higher cost per page than traditional offset printing methods, but in fact it is equivalent to saving costs for all the technical steps required to print the boards. It also allows you to print on demand, short rotation time, and even image modification (variable data) that is used for every impression. Job savings and the increasing capability of digital printers mean that digital printing reaches a point where it can coincide or outperform the ability to offset printing to produce larger prints of several thousand sheets at a low cost.

The advantages of digital printing

Digital printing has many advantages over traditional methods. Here are the most important and where it’s used:

  • Working publishing printing – Cheap printing of the case is possible only because of digital processes that circumvent the need for printing boards
  • Variable data printing – It uses database-based files for mass personalization of printed materials
  • Fine art – Archival digital printing methods include true prints for photo paper and giclee prints on watercolor paper using pigment-based paints.
  • Print on demand – Digital printing is used for personalized printing, for example, children’s books adapted to children, photographic books (such as wedding books) or any other book.
  • Advertising – It is often used to advertise open-air banners and signaling events, at fairs, in the retail sector at the point of sale or place of purchase, and in personalized direct mail campaigns.
  • Photos – Digital printing has revolutionized photo printing in terms of retouching capability that allows you to correct the photo before printing.
  • Architectural design – New media that are aligned with different surfaces have made it possible to transform the interior and exterior spaces with digitally printed wall murals and floor
